Did you know...
that every second person has some
type of leg problem and sitting or
standing for prolonged lengths of time
can put you at risk of developing
a
VENOUS LEG DISORDER.

VENOUS LEG DISORDERS
are the 7th leading cause of
a disabling condition
next to
CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE !

Inside your legs...

Blood Flow in a Vein

Your calf muscle acts like a second
heart pump helping to return venous
blood flow from the lower part of
your legs (ankle area) back to
your heart.
The heart alone can not manage
this pumping action. When you are not
using your calf muscle this can
eventually lead to serious congestion
in your legs.

This congestion can cause
the following to occur:

TIRED, SORE, ACHEY LEGS
SWOLLEN ANKLES & LEGS
HOT LEGS
CRAMPS
VARICOSE VEINS
SPIDER VEINS
LEG ULCERS
DEVELOPMENT OF DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS (BLOOD CLOT)
EDEMA
LYMPHATIC DISEASE

Anyone who experiences any of these
warning signs should consult his or
her physician without delay !

Helpful Tips

Regular exercise, watching ones body
weight, proper leg elevation, and
wearing compression garments
are all essential in the return of
venous blood from the ankle
back to the heart.

Excessive heat tends to dialate
veins making the varicose veins,
ankles and leg swelling worse.
Try to avoid hot showers
or hot baths, sunbathing
or spa tanning.

Remember to wash your garments
after every use. Washing brings
back the compression to the
material and will help decrease
snags and rips. Wash them by
hand using a
special washing solution

& let them drip dry.
Do not put them
in the dryer.

Don't forget to replace your compression garments!
The elastic fibers of your compression garments break down with daily wear.
They must be replaced every 4-6 months to ensure maximum compression.
